Chevy arrives with a message that feels like a hug: reminding us that family is our true destination. The new “Memory Lane” commercial, which first aired during the NFL broadcast on Thanksgiving, follows a couple driving their 1987 Chevy Suburban to their family cabin, as memories of their children growing up fill the seats with stories and moments we sometimes overlook: the laughter, the silly sibling squabbles, the song they all sing badly but at the top of their lungs, and that beautiful silence when they all gaze out the window as it rains or snows. It’s pure nostalgia, but with a warm vibe and zero drama; it’s a short film about everyday life, reminding us that every family trip is a story that adds to the traditions of this time of year. And yes, perhaps the years pass quickly, the children grow up, life changes…but there’s something that doesn’t change: the magic of being together on the same journey. 🚗
This piece is part of the brand’s fifth holiday campaign, where Chevrolet focuses on real stories that connect with people without feeling like a traditional advertisement. 🛻
This year, the narrative centers on a mother’s perspective and those moments that make a family trip magical: Chevy invites us to look at those who are with us in the car. To appreciate that co-pilot who always knows what music to play. To enjoy the mess, the extra luggage, and all those details that turn a journey into a memory. 🚘
This holiday season, Chevy wants to remind us that what matters is not where you’re going, but who you share the journey with.
Behind the commercial is a team full of empathetic people and experts in memories, people with a special sensitivity who wanted to capture how quickly life passes and how, suddenly, children leave home.
Filmed in various locations across Michigan, the short film uses classic vehicles to show how Chevy has been present in the stories of several generations. In addition to the commercial, Chevrolet will launch its Chevy Holiday Magic Tour, a five-city tour across the U.S. San Diego, Dallas, Nashville, Atlanta, and Detroit, featuring holiday events powered by the Silverado EV. There will be Christmas trees, lights, cocoa, family activities, and even the vintage Suburban from the commercial. They will also partner with Toys for Tots to support local families.
The final message is simple, direct, and incredibly heartwarming: family is the best destination on any trip, and Chevy wants to be there to share it with you. 🚙👨👩👧👦
