Shakira unleashes feminine power at ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’

After a jaw-dropping performance at the Grammys, Colombian icon Shakira kicked off her tour, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour”, with an electric concert in Rio de Janeiro this week—her first in seven years!

The 48-year-old powerhouse lit up the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium, packing 46,000 fans into the venue. With a dazzling mix of cutting-edge lights and mind-blowing visuals, Shakira greeted the crowd with her signature energy: “¡Boa noite, Rio de Janeiro!, tudo bem?” The night was a non-stop celebration of her three-decade career, blending hits from her newest album, Las mujeres ya no lloran (released in March 2024), with all-time classics that have made her a global sensation.

What did she perform? Get ready for it. She kicked off with crowd favorites like “La suerte,” “Te felicito,” and “Monotonía,” then hit us with timeless hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Inevitable,” “La Bicicleta,” “Chantaje,” and, of course, the iconic “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” From pop to reggaeton, salsa, vallenato, and bachata, Shakira brought the heat and celebrated Latin music in all its glory, just days after winning the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. She dedicated the win to immigrants in the U.S., an incredibly powerful gesture.

The highlight? The Brazilian crowd. Shakira gave a shout-out to her fans there, calling them “the best audience in the world.” She even gave them a special treat by performing “Mama África” by Brazilian artist Chico César. As the night reached its peak, the stadium erupted during “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53″—a song that became an anthem after her breakup with Gerard Piqué in 2022. The crowd belted every word in unison, making it clear that Shakira’s empowering anthem of resilience and self-love was felt deeply by everyone in the arena.

Fans were in for a big surprise at the concert when the Barranquilla native appeared with her children Milan and Sasha, with whom the artist performed Acróstico, a song she recorded with them.

Closing the show with a three-dimensional wolf figure on stage, Shakira reminded the crowd, “Music heals,” and dropped this powerful message: “Loving another is beautiful, but loving yourself is even more beautiful.”

Shakira’s Las mujeres ya no lloran tour marks her first since the 2018 El Dorado World Tour. While she’s graced Brazil before, this is her first performance in Rio since rocking Rock in Rio back in 2011 and closing out the 2014 World Cup.

With over 90 million records sold worldwide, four Grammys, and eleven Latin Grammys, Shakira is firmly etched into music history as one of the most successful Latin artists of all time.
