KILLceañera, Jason and a 30-year-old haunted schoolhouse: the scariest haunts still open this Halloween

As of October 18, 2026, you still have two weeks to get properly scared. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights runs through November 1 in both Hollywood and Orlando, and two of Texas’ biggest haunts keep going into November, long after the last trick-or-treater goes home.

Below are seven famous haunted attractions that are open right now, from a quinceañera turned nightmare in L.A. to a 30-year-old haunted schoolhouse in Ohio.

Which famous haunted houses are still open?

Seven big-name haunted attractions are still running as of October 18, 2026: both Halloween Horror Nights events, Knott’s Scary Farm, 13th Floor Houston, 13th Floor San Antonio, Thrillvania near Dallas and The Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati. Knott’s and Thrillvania end on Halloween night, so those are the ones to book first.

The one with a Latino twist: KILLceañera

If you only pick one house this year, make it the one about a quince. KILLceañera: Music by Slash is an original house at Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, running select nights through November 1, 2026. Its villain, Lola, turns her quinceañera into revenge on everyone who wronged her, set to a Spanish-guitar score by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and an original song called “15 Candles.”

It continues a tradition Universal Hollywood started with La Llorona back in 2011. Your tía’s party will never feel the same.

Before you go: tips that save the night

  1. Buy online, ahead of time. The Dent warns its tickets sell out each night, and most of these haunts sell by date.
  2. Check the age guidance. Universal Orlando and Knott’s point to 13 and up. Both 13th Floor locations require minors 15 and younger to be with an adult.
  3. Leave the costume at home for Halloween Horror Nights Orlando.
  4. Bringing little primos? The Dent’s Lights On Tour, on Sunday, October 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., is the gentler version.
  5. Plan for Día de Muertos. It starts November 1, so if the family has an ofrenda to set up, go scary the weekend before.

That’s perfect if Halloween weekend is already taken by family plans.
