Xpeng Aero HT unveils ‘flying car’ that’s part van, part eVTOL at CES 2025. Ready to take your adventures to the next level—literally? At CES 2025, Xpeng Aero HT unveiled its groundbreaking Land Aircraft Carrier, a modular flying car that’s part electric minivan, part eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. Imagine cruising the streets, rolling out a compact aircraft from the trunk, and taking off into the skies—all for under $300,000.

While Xpeng has shared complicated and science fiction-inspired designs for future flying cars in the past, this one attempts to get to the skies through a more hybrid route. Rather than requiring a large expensive hangar, Aero HT’s invention would allow you to simply drive the car and the eVTOL to a takeoff and landing site, deliver a “single command” to detach and unfold the small aircraft, then take off.
Aero HT plans to launch in China first before considering international markets. In the U.S., eVTOL startups like Beta Technologies and Joby Aviation have done piloted flights.
Ground “Mother Ship”
This futuristic ride combines practicality with high-tech innovation. The 6-wheel vehicle drivable with a standard license is a vehicle that looks a lot like EV startup Canoo’s Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle, with a touch of the Tesla Cybertruck. Has lunar rover vibes, complete with sleek lines, a floating roof, and space for four passengers, even with the eVTOL onboard. Plus, it doubles as a mobile charging station, keeping your eVTOL powered and ready to soar. The Land Aircraft Carrier also promises to act as a mobile supercharging station for the eVTOL, powering the aircraft during a drive and park so it’s always ready for takeoff. It has what Xpeng says is the world’s first 800-volt silicon carbide range extension power platform to achieve a combined range of over 621 miles.

Lunar Rover for the Earth’s Surface
The lightweight eVTOL features foldable rotors, a carbon fiber cockpit, and simplified single-stick controls for easy piloting. Not ready to fly solo? No worries—the aircraft can also operate autonomously,“thanks to intelligent flight assistance which includes one-touch takeoff, automated route planning, real-time airspace monitoring and landing vision assistance,” according to the company.

Xpeng already has 3,000 pre-orders and aims to roll out the Land Aircraft Carrier in 2026, starting in China before expanding globally. With a production facility set to crank out 10,000 units annually, the company is serious about redefining mobility.
That’s a bold vision, and we’ll be keeping an eye on Xpeng to see if they can make it a reality. Either way, it’s the kind of buzzworthy reveal CES was made for! 🛸
