Carter Faith, who makes her acting debut in Netflix's Heartland

Carter Faith makes her acting debut in Heartland five days before her first CMA Awards

Carter Faith’s first movie role arrives on Netflix on November 13, 2026, when she appears opposite Jessica Chastain in the country noir thriller Heartland. Five days later, she walks into her first CMA Awards as a nominee for New Artist of the Year.

For a singer who released her debut album just over a year ago, it is a crowded calendar.

A debut album that broke a 10-year streak

Faith released Cherry Valley on October 3, 2025, through Gatsby Records/MCA. The record went further than most first albums do. It earned an ACM nomination for Album of the Year, and according to her label, it was the first debut to get that nod in a decade, following Chris Stapleton’s Traveller in 2016.

The year kept building from there. In February she made her late-night TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and by summer her label had confirmed tour dates opening for Post Malone, Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves and Shaboozey.

From the Bluebird Cafe to a Netflix set

Netflix lists Faith as Charlie Heart in Heartland. Chastain plays Misty Jones, a former country megastar who comes out of seclusion to search for her missing niece, a rising musician, and ends up in Nashville’s darker corners.

The film was written and directed by Shana Feste, who also made Country Strong. Filming began in September 2025 in Atlanta and Nashville. When Faith announced the role that month, her post was simple: “They’re gonna put me in the moviessssss.”

She did not just act. Faith wrote and performs “Still the Sparrow Sings,” a song made for her character. She filmed its performance video at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, and it is the second release from the Heartland soundtrack, which also drops on November 13.

One big week in November

The CMA Awards air live on ABC on Wednesday, November 18, at 8 p.m. ET from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and stream next day on Hulu. In the New Artist of the Year category, Faith faces Avery Anna, Emily Ann Roberts, Tucker Wetmore and Stephen Wilson Jr.

That means viewers could meet her as an actress on a Friday and see her compete for country’s top newcomer prize the following Wednesday.

Play “Still the Sparrow Sings” before November 13, and you will know her voice before Charlie Heart says a word.
